Gipsy Kings to play at the 7 Towers in Turkey

The legendary Gipsy Kings will be playing at the music festival at 7 Towers in Turkey on October 16th, 2022.

Gipsy Kings are a group of flamenco, salsa, and pop musicians from Arles and Montpellier in southern France, who perform mostly in Catalan but also mix in Spanish with southern French dialects. Although the group members were born in France, their parents were mostly gitanos, Spanish Romani who fled Spain during the 1930s Spanish Civil War. They are known for bringing rumba flamenca, a pop-oriented music distantly derived from traditional flamenco music, to worldwide audiences. The group originally called itself Los Reyes.

Gipsy Kings became popular with their self-titled third album, which included the songs "Djobi Djoba", "Bamboléo", and the ballad "Un Amor".

Gipsy Kings was released in the United States in 1989 and spent 40 weeks on the charts, one of few Spanish-language albums to do so.

As the undisputed masters of gypsy music, the group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has been awarded numerous gold, platinum and diamond discs, a music victory in 1990 and a Grammy Award in 2013 in the Best World Music category for the album « Savor Flamenco ». He also collaborated on the film « The Big Lebowski » by remixing « Hotel California », and on « Toy Story III », the Disney Pixar animated film with « You’ve Got a Friend in Me ».
